The blurb of the Book:
It’s instantaneous attraction when Tanuja Bhatia from Delhi meets Raj Malhotra from Bombay at the Bombay Central Station.
The mutual attraction soon blossoms into love over the next couple of meetings.
Tanuja and her simple father fail to see the crisis brewing in their own home. Her not-so-nice stepmother Gurinder is totally against the idea of Tanuja meeting her Prince Charming which would make her step-sister Harpreet seriously envious. By the way, Harpreet’s main aim in life is to simply make her half-sister miserable.
While Raj’s parents and Tanuja’s father try to arrange a marriage between the two with a help of a mutual friend, the evil stepmother comes up with a plan of her own—to marry her stepdaughter off to Sonu, a good-for-nothing idiot.
Can Her Prince Charming lift Tanuja out of this life of drudgery and boredom and give her the happiness she deserves?
*A prequel to THE MALHOTRA BRIDE

Tanuja Bhatia was only two when her father remarried, Gurinder. Her stepmother and her daughters treated her like a servant in the house and since she was eleven, Tanuja managed the kitchen and her studies. She met Bhoomi at a public school in Delhi in class 7, and the girl became her best friend, philosopher, and guide.
As soon as 21-year-old Raj Malhotra completed his graduation, he planned to start his own business in Mumbai while his parents and elder brother live in Delhi and his married elder sister in the US.
Now, 5 years later, the year is 1975, Bhoomi’s mother suggests Tanuja as a good match for Raj. The Malhotras like her for their son, match their horoscopes and even send the horoscope of Raj to the Bhatia residence. But fearing Gurinder, Mr. Bhatia keeps the horoscopes aside as he plans to look into them later. Gurinder does not want Tanuja to get married for the next five years as she would lose help in the kitchen. And Raj tells his parents that he does not want to get married right away.
But destiny has other plans for them. The Bhatias travel to Delhi and the travel agency they have booked their vehicle to travel to Mahabaleshwar belongs to Raj. And as luck would have it Raj is the one who is driving the taxi that day. And Tanuja and raj are attracted to each other.
The cover is beautiful and depicts the time when this story relates to. The story has been written very beautifully. I loved how the author took us back into the seventies with the descriptions of places and also the scenes. There are matadors and the black telephones with dials. And the telephone numbers also pertain to that time. The characters are well developed. The language is simple and the story just flows, I finished it in one sitting.
I loved the book immensely and feel that this is the best book written by her. A must, must read.
