Blurb of the Book:

Sandra lost her husband, Sam, and was lonely in this not-so-alone world until she met Sam’s look-alike, Fran, from another world. Will Fran be able to provide all the happiness Sandra has been yearning since Sam’s physical body left?

The Doppelgänger is a metaphysical short story that will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions as the astral and physical bodies clash.

Review By TBC Reviewer

I read this multi-genre 35 pages book in one shot. The Doppelganger by Ruchira Khanna is a story of many planes/dimensions. Fantasy Romance with a twist.

Sandra had recently lost her husband. She and her son Liam are still coping with the loss. Liam is heartbroken as he has also lost his dog too. Sandra is trying to keep her job and as a single parent has to keep Liam in daycare.

Liam has grown quiet and is always in his room within locked doors. He escapes various accidents miraculously. Sandra worries about his lack of friends.

But one day she discovers Liam is onto something mysterious. In the attempt to reach him she meets her husband's doppelganger but from another dimension.

Looking at him Liam and Sandra's heart fill with hope. Can this Doppelganger be the perfect dad for Liam and fill the shoes as Sandra's husband? Can life become simple again? Read the book to find out.

I hope not to give out any spoilers. This story will leave your jaw hanging. Please don't over think about the story.

The story got me thinking too of the various possibilities. It is spiritual + scientific. You will have to read it to believe it.

The language is super simple. The story flow is consistent.

I liked that the author showed the problems faced by the look-alike when real life got faster.

I liked the fact that there were only a  few characters in the book. I liked how the innocence & determination of the child is portrayed. I found the mom's character a little vain though.

The story lacks depth due to the narration being too simple. It could have been more fleshed out and made into a proper novel.

The concepts weaved into the story are not easily believable for a common man.
